Fed: Australians not eating enough Omega 3 fats: expert
SYDNEY, Feb 20 AAP - Australian infants were not getting enough omega-3 fats, which
are vital for optimal brain development, an expert said today.
Dr Norman Salem, of the United States National Institutes of Health, said Australians
and Americans were among the world's lowest consumers of DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and
EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) - long chain omega-3 fats which are important for brain function
and heart health.
Dr Salem will present his latest research on the role of DHA at Nutrition Society …
