NSW: Poodles to get $1m each in Rose Porteous will

PERTH, Aug 8 AAP - Flamboyant millionaire Rose Porteous has left $1 million each to her two
poodles, Dennis and Lulu, which she describes as her best friends.

Mrs Porteous told Dog's Life magazine she did not want to leave anything to chance after
her recent legal battles with Gina Rinehart, daughter of her late husband Lang Hancock.

"I've clearly provided for Dennis and Lulu in my will."

A judge ruled in June that the Perth socialite could keep more than $20 million in assets
in dispute after Mr Hancock's death in 1992.

The ruling followed an often bitter court battle with Ms Rinehart, during which Mrs
Porteous was described as a "Filipino prostitute" who went for Mr Hancock's fortune with "her
ears pinned back".

"I don't trust many humans now," Mrs Porteous told the magazine. "These dogs mean
everything to me.

"Dennis and Lulu are my first dogs. Growing up in the Philippines, I was used to seeing
dogs mistreated and eaten, so it's taken me a long time to realise what good companions they
can be."

Mrs Porteous said when at home in her extravagant Perth mansion Prix D'Amour she spent
"almost 24 hours" with her animals.

And she said she cut short overseas trips because: "I can't bear to be away from them for
too long."

Her fourth husband Willie also complained the scented gel used to bath her pets daily cost
more than his own shampoo.

And when the dogs died the rest of their inheritance would end up at Perth's Rescue Centre
for Poodles, she said.
