DENVER, Sept. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- J.D. Edwards(R), a leading developer of business solution software, has extended its product alliance with business partner, Data Systems International (DSI), for DSI's radio frequency data collection product, WorldRF(TM).
"For clients considering radio frequency data collection, WorldRF represents a cost-effective entry point solution," said Larry Ferrere, director of industry marketing at J.D. Edwards. "We still offer our client/server data collection solution, dcLINK(TM); however, with the addition of WorldRF, we can make data collection more widely available to companies that want to streamline their distribution and manufacturing business but do not need the advanced functionality or the initial sophistication of a full client/server solution."
WorldRF connects to J.D. Edwards' inventory management, advanced warehouse management, sales order management, purchasing, manufacturing, shop floor control and job cost applications. Users have two-way access to J.D. Edwards data by utilizing an RF5250 connection to IBM AS/400. With real-time online inquiry and updates, WorldRF provides full J.D. Edwards transaction edits and is fully integrated with the J.D. Edwards active data dictionary, providing multilanguage support from a single copy of software,
"A key WorldRF advantage is the user-tailored data collection prompts. Soft-coded tables allow programmerless changes to prompts, defaults and processing options. This is an advantage to clients in various industries with differing requirements or those using devices with varying-sized displays," indicated John Adams, WorldRF vice president and business unit manager at DSI. "Our data collection solutions, while designed to take specific advantage to the inherent strength of J.D. Edwards applications and technology, operates across a wide range of different vendor hardware devices."
"Consistent with the J.D. Edwards philosophy of providing value to their clients, as well as a coexistence and migration strategy toward advanced technology, the WorldRF solution comes with 100 percent credit to all clients that wish, at any time, to migrate to the full dcLINK client/server solution for data collection," stressed Ferrere. "By offering our clients both of these options, we're providing an easy transition if and when the client deems a move to client/server is appropriate for their environment."
